Noise and the right to Worship

Noise and the right to Worship
Complaint by neighbours to the council about noise allegedly disturbing them and their families during  Church services and functions.,often leads to investigations and sometimes Noise abatement orders  being served on Churches

Sensible negotiations, may be all that is needed, but this fails as  both sides fail to agree. The Churches extends a hand of friendship to their neighbours and have aimed to live in a peaceful coexistence with their neighbours. This is the only way Churches can show the love of God and enable them to perform their various roles and to reach out to their community.
The noise abatement order  severely limits the way that Churches worship and the way that they carry out their role in the community and it has financial implications for them...

The freedom of individuals to worship God in a Christian country and the rights of individuals not to be inconvenienced by noise, has been, and will continue to be a controversial issue. Whatever your views, there will always be people who will use issues like this to further their own agenda.
Where does it end? Which Church is next? Are Council policies and officers just machines that run on rules and regulations and are not sensitive?

Some facts
  1. The church Building formerly owned by United Reformed Church (URC) has been in existence since 1894. Local Historians tell us that the URC had land surrounding the Church, which it sold for development.
  2. Immanuel House of Worship (IHOW) Church has been meeting at 89 Vallentin Road in Walthamstow since 2006 when it purchased the Church Building. For about a year prior to 2006 the Church Building was unoccupied and was used by local youths and alcoholics ‘who did their own things’ in the vandalised building.
  3. Currently, the IHOW church offers a nursery to serve the whole neighbourhood and has an impressive list of neighbours who welcome the church and who do not regard their worship as a problem.
  4. The next door property to the church, No 87 was formerly the Manse (vicarage) until 1989, when it was then sold by the United Reformed Church.   In  2005, No 87 was sold to the current occupants / complainant. The Church was unoccupied when he bought the property.
  5. If the Church Pastor lives next door to his or her Church. Where does the complaint come?
  6. Efforts are underway to sound proof the Church. This includes blocking windows, among other recomendations by the Council.
