Reason for the Season

Unopened Present.

The countdown to Christmas has already begun with all the activities associated with this season of the year. The event that took place 2000 years ago has been commercialised and it is an event celebrated all over the world. There is the holidays, festivities, family gathering, exchange of gifts and presents. It is a time when people give.

Let us not forget the significance of the season for God loved us so much that he GAVE Jesus, His only son to be born into the world, so that we may be reconciled back to Him (John 3:16). Jesus is the big precious present for us all during the Christmas period, yet many refuse to open the present. Every year they look at the present under the tree and decide not to open it.

Jesus the Saviour was born to bring "good tidings of great joy to all people, to bring peace to all men. He came to show the way, for He is the way the truth and the life and the only way to God the father (John 14:6). Jesus shows us the way to live in the world and how to overcome all its ups and downs. Christians (believers and followers) aim to be like Jesus and to practice His teachings in the Word of God- the Bible. The world sees these teachings and the way of living as opposite to its own and perceives it as difficult. Therefore some decide not to take and open the present and accept Jesus into their lives.

Open the present and find out how good and lovely it is.

Prayer:

Father God, let me appreciate your love for me everyday and especially at this time of the year. Thank you for loving me the way I am, thank you for Jesus- Please open my heart so that I can learn more about Jesus an accept him into my life. Please forgive all my sins (the wrong things I have done) and give me the courage not to sin again. Amen.
